Astrium to provide new satellite imagery for Google Maps and Google Earth

September 12, 2013 - Astrium, Europe’s leading space technology company, has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Google Inc. to provide satellite imagery in support of Google Maps, Google Earth and other Google products and services. Under this agreement, Astrium Services will provide newly acquired imagery from its Pléiades and SPOT satellites.

Pléiades 1A and 1B are Europe’s first very high-resolution Earth-observation satellites, offering exceptional performance to support both commercial and government markets with 50cm resolution imagery products. The SPOT 6 and SPOT 7 constellation, operated in conjunction with Pléiades, offers 1.5m resolution imagery products and is uniquely capable of mapping continent-wide areas.

This four-satellite constellation makes Astrium Services the first satellite operator in the world to offer a complete range of Earth-observation data at different resolutions (from medium to very high-resolution), an image collection capacity of up to 6.5 million square kilometers each day and the ability to image every point of the globe on a daily basis.

With this agreement, Astrium demonstrates again its unique ability to meet the increasing demand for imagery to support the online mapping and location-based services markets.


Certeza Infosys Corporation Won IFSAR Project with NAMRIA

The “Acquisition of IFSAR for the Production of Nationwide Digital Elevation Model and Ortho-Radar Imagery” Project has been awarded to Certeza Infosys Corporation on January 4, 2013 by the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA).

The IFSAR project covers the entire country including all islands, and is divided into three (3) lots namely: (1) portions of Luzon, (2) Visayas and Palawan, and (3) Mindanao. CIC joined the bidding for the 3 lots and won all the projects. The total bid of CIC for the 3 projects was Php 989,967,000.00.

The approved budget for the IFSAR project was closed at Php 990M, which will be used in employing state-of-the-art tools and technology to execute the project. CIC and NAMRIA will work hand-in-hand to generate digital elevation model and ortho-radar imagery over the Philippine land. Contract agreement was signed by both parties on January 24, 2013.

Through the Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar or IFSAR sensing technology, CIC pairs of high-resolution SAR images are utilized to generate high-quality terrain elevation maps, elevation models, and ortho-radar imagery using phase interferometry methods. NAMRIA will provide support and assistance to CIC in using this technology and analysing generated data.

The National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) is a highly-professionalized, technically advanced, globally competitive, and environment and natural resources caring agency based in the Philippines. Its mission is to generate and disseminate reliable and up-to-date geographic information and provide related services, by employing state-of-the-art technology, in support to national development and security.

NAMRIA surveys and maps the land and water resources of the Philippines. As provided for in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Administrative Order No. 31, series of 1988, which prescribed the guidelines implementing Section 22 (a) of Executive Order 192, NAMRIA is mandated to provide the public with mapmaking services and to act as the central mapping agency, depository, and distribution facility for natural resources data in the form of maps, charts, texts, and statistics


CIC and DIGISCRIPT Signed Memorandum of Agreement for Two-Year Partnership

Certeza Infosys Corporation (CIC) and Digiscript Philippines Inc. (DPI) signed a Memorandum of Agreement on December 11, 2012 to recognize a strategic alliance and cooperation between both organizations, presenting a stronger competitive advantage in marketing their core services to the public.

The signing of MOA held late last year at Certeza Infosys Corporation office was represented by Raul Roberto E. De Guzman, Chief Executive Officer of CIC, and Francisco D. Alampay, Chairman of DPI together with Mrs. Flora E. De Guzman, Chief Finance Officer of CIC and Mr. Conrad D. Alampay, President of DPI.
